The Law Foundation of BC is an independent, non-profit organization that funds legal aid, legal education, law reform, legal research, and law libraries across BC. Established in 1969 as the first foundation of its kind in North America, we have distributed almost $1 billion to advance access to justice in this province. We are funded through interest on lawyers’ pooled trust accounts, operating entirely independently from the government. In 2025, we approved more than $109 million across more than 240 grants.

About our Logo

The Nootka Rose grows throughout the lands now known as British Columbia. Traditionally used by Indigenous communities in food, drink, medicine, and ceremony, this resilient plant is known for thriving in challenging environments and stabilizing the soil where it grows. 

Our logo mark is a reimagined, modern take on the Nootka Rose. The five familiar petals are formed in the negative space, framed by an abstract depiction of people joined together in a circle, reflecting our value of reciprocity.

The typeface is Skeena Indigenous, an Indigenous-first project that prioritizes the typographic norms of Indigenous languages in North America. It was built through meaningful collaboration with Indigenous language keepers and preservation organizations.

Logo Usage Guidelines

We love our logo. Please use it with care by following these guidelines: 

• Maintain the logo’s aspect ratio when resizing 

• Do not alter the colours or modify the design 

• Maintain a clear space around the logo 

• Minimum size requirements: 150px wide for digital use, 1.25” wide for print
