Other Funding
Advancing justice takes many forms, and so does our funding. These funds support public interest law participation and legal research across BC, connecting individuals, organizations, and the next generation of legal scholars to the work of advancing justice.
Public Interest Law Participation Fund
The Public Interest Law Participation (PILP) Fund provides financial support to organizations, First Nations, and individuals based in BC to participate in proceedings that raise public interest law issues. This funding is intended to assist with costs related to participation and is not meant to cover all costs.

Legal Research Fund
The Legal Research Fund supports research with the potential to advance knowledge related to law, social policy, and the administration of justice.
We are currently conducting a comprehensive review of the Legal Research Fund to ensure improvements to equity and access that meet current and emerging needs. While this review is underway, there will be no open grants call for this fund. We encourage organizations and researchers to join our mailing list to receive timely updates.
Graduate Fellowships Fund
The Graduate Fellowships Fund supports graduate students whose research aligns with the Law Foundation’s mandate, strategic goals, and priorities.
We are currently reviewing the Graduate Fellowships Fund to ensure it reflects current and emerging needs around equity and access. This review reflects our commitment to making the fund as equitable and accessible as possible. While the review is underway, there will be no open grants call for the 2026/2027 academic year. We will, however, continue the pilot opportunity supporting BC’s three Faculties of Law to directly administer academic fellowships based on the priorities and needs within their law schools and programs.
