Who We Are

Join Us

We are motivated and inspired by community, and we are building a team that brings our values to life every day. You might be who we are looking for.

Driven by Purpose

The Law Foundation of BC invests in work that empowers people and strengthens communities, aimed at creating a future where systems of law and justice support all people to live and thrive in dignity. We make grants that support programs and services that seek to promote justice for people at both an individual and systemic level.

Our work, including how we relate to one another as employees, is guided by our values of reciprocity, equity, decolonization, sustainability, and transformation. We continue to find ways to live these values as we grow as an employer.

Working With Us

Our work is deeply fulfilling. We have the privilege of connecting with people who are creating lasting change in communities. We learn from each other, and it is inspiring to be part of such a dedicated and thoughtful team.

We know that mission-driven work can be demanding. This is why our goal as an employer is to create an environment where everyone feels fully supported in the way they work.

We care deeply about the wellbeing of our teams, and our workplace policies and practices reflect that commitment. In our job postings, you will notice that our approaches are informed by listening to our team, who bring invaluable perspectives through their lived and living experiences. Together, we are working to build something strong and lasting.

Here are some other reasons why it is great to work with us:

Remote-First

We are a remote-first organization. While a few roles are based in Vancouver, most of our staff work predominantly from home and some work entirely from home. We do not require anyone to work from the office on a set schedule. Flexibility is part of how we support balance and autonomy within our work.

Employees may choose to work from home or use our Vancouver office whenever they would like. Teams also come together in person from time to time to collaborate and learn.

Accessibility Matters

We have an Accessibility Committee that works towards making the Law Foundation a more accessible and barrier-free environment. We ensure staff have the tools and equipment they need to work comfortably, and that commitment extends beyond the physical environment to how we work, the digital spaces we use, and the way we communicate.

Some of our recruiting and interviewing practices are informed by an accessibility lens. We provide interview questions in advance, for example, and offer other considerations to make our interview process as accommodating as possible.

Learning and Development

Each year, we allocate dedicated budgets to employees’ individual learning and development. Topics such as anti-racism and anti-oppression, decolonization and reconciliation, and equity and inclusion are encouraged and considered essential for all team members.

We also offer organization-wide learning opportunities and tailored training for managers on different topics.
